The Chembur Centre operates from Gandhi Maidan, serving as a gathering place for youth and middle-class workers. The opportunities offered by the Centre aid in their personal development through games, keeping them away from the vices of society. The Boys Recreation Centre at Gandhi Maidan in Chembur had been serving as a base for YMCA community outreach even before the establishment of the Chembur branch in 1975. The branch was inaugurated on April 25, 1975.
