The Child and Family Extension Service (CFES), initially established to serve the slum communities near the Andheri YMCA with 20 children, has experienced significant growth. It now encompasses 300 children from Goregaon West to Santacruz West.

It emerged from the need to support families in the area by providing financial assistance for school fees and other essentials such as school bags, notebooks, and accessories.

CFES Aims To:

  • Support the education of deserving needy students.
  • Re-enroll those who have given up school on account of inability to pay fees.
  • Encourage parents to shift their children to better schools.
  • Promote education for girls, encouraging them to continue their studies beyond secondary school and facilitating shifts to English/Hindi/Marathi medium schools from Urdu, particularly for girls.
  • Foster a broader outlook among children, providing opportunities to develop leadership skills and learn about nature and the environment through activities such as staying at the YMCA campsite.
  • Expose children and parents to improved living standards, motivation, health and hygiene practices, and environmental care.

CFES Programs Include:

  • Outstation Camp to Nilshi
  • Distribution of bags and stationery
  • Medical Camps
  • Christmas Program
  • Follow-up activities
  • Reviews by the Scrutiny Committee
  • Tuition classes
